Troubleshooting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Wireless Connections

The NOON Room Director connects to your home Wi-Fi network and to each NOON Extension Switch using Bluetooth LE. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be affected by your home’s layout as well as wireless interference from other devices in your home. This may cause problems during setup or general usage.

Troubleshooting

If a NOON Room Director is offline (can’t connect to Wi-Fi):

  • There may be interference caused by other devices like baby monitors or cordless phones. These and many other devices typically operate on the “2.4GHz” band—the same band used by Wi-Fi. Several devices using this band in the same location may cause interference. To troubleshoot, try turning off those other devices one by one to see if connectivity improves.
  • Your Room Director may be out of range of your Wi-Fi router. Try connecting another device to your Wi-Fi network (like a phone or laptop) at the same location as your Room Director to see if those devices can connect.
  • Try moving your Room Director to a switch box that is closer to your Wi-Fi router. Or try moving your Wi-Fi router closer to your Room Director.
  • There may be interference from walls or other parts of your home. Common building materials like metal, concrete, brick, and marble can cause interference with wireless devices. Try moving your Room Director to a switch box without interfering materials nearby.
  • If you continue to have issues, you may need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

If a NOON Extension Switch is offline (can’t connect to Room Director):

  • Like Wi-Fi, there may be interference caused by other devices such as cordless phones and other Bluetooth devices like keyboards or speakers. These, and many other devices, typically operate on the “2.4GHz” band—also used by Bluetooth Low Energy. Several devices using this band in the same location may cause interference. To troubleshoot, try turning off those other devices one by one to see if connectivity improves.
  • Your Extension Switch may be out of range of your Room Director. Try moving your NOON Room Director or Extension Switch to a switch box that is closer.
  • Like Wi-Fi, there may be interference from walls or other parts of your home. Try moving your Extension Switch and Room Director to a switch box that doesn’t have interfering materials nearby.
