1. What is a multi-way light circuit?

A multi-way circuit is where two or more light switches control the same light or set of lights. If there are two switches controlling the same light. For help identifying a multi-way see, how to identify a Multi-Way switch.

2. Is NOON Compatible with multi-way (3- & 4-way)?

Yes, the NOON Lighting System supports multi-way configurations of up to four switches per circuit.

3. What are the Requirements for NOON to work with multi-way?

Each switch location must have a Line, Load, Ground, Neutral, and Traveler for proper installation in a multi-way configuration and all switches on the multi-way circuit must be replaced with NOON switches to maintain light control from each switch location. For more info, go here.

4. How many multi-way switches can NOON support?

NOON can support multi-way configurations that have up to 4 switches controlling the same set of lights.

5. How does NOON multi-way work?

NOON switches replace the existing switches in your multi-way. Installation requires wiring NOON switches in place of your existing switches to maintain control of your lights.

During setup, the switches installed in your multi-way will be grouped together. The switches in a multi-way group communicate wirelessly with each other. Grouping keeps the switches in each multi-way in sync wirelessly.

6. How is a NOON installation in a multi-way different than a traditional 3- or 4- way switch?

NOON multi-way is wired in parallel on a multi-way circuit. NOON switches communicate light level and on/off wirelessly among one another. For more details, go here.

7. Do all the switches in a multi-way need to be replaced by NOON?

Yes, all switches on the multi-way circuit must be replaced with NOON switches if you want to maintain the same light control from each switch location as you had with your original light switches.

8. Does a Room Director need to be a part of a multi-way group?

No, a Room Director is not required to be part of a multi-way group, but a multi-way group is required to be paired to a Room Director.

9. How do I know if I have installed NOON switches correctly?

If installed correctly, the lights in the multi-way circuit will turn on when toggling the switch at any switch location. for more detail, read here.

10. Can I dim from both ends of a multi-way?

Yes, you can dim from any end in a NOON multi-way, except when a NOON Extension On/Off switch is installed as part of that multi-way. In a multi-way which includes a mix of a NOON Dimmer and On/Off switch, you can still dim the light from the end that has the Dimmer installed.

11. Does NOON work with end-of-line or dead-end switches?

Yes, as long there is access to a neutral wire, NOON switches in those locations will work. Read here for more detail.

12. Can I use one NOON switch and one 3rd party switch in a multi-way?

Mixing NOON and 3rd party switches in a multi-way is not recommended as you would have to leave the third-party switch in the OFF position to allow NOON to control the circuit. Alternatively, you can disable the 3rd party switch on the circuit, and wire the NOON switch as a single-pole.
