TitleSome Cable/Sat Boxes Require IR Control to be Configured
Full Description
You may encounter recent cable boxes configured to accept RF signals instead of IR; while some cable boxes can accept both RF and IR signals for control, others will require IR signals to be re-enabled in order for the Savant Remote to control them properly.

In the event that you see control issues with cable boxes of the following models, it may be necessary to configure the cable box to accept IR commands before the Savant Remote can communicate with the device.

Cable boxes that are known to work with RF signals:

  • DirecTV – R15, R16, R22, HR20, HR21, HR22, HR23, HR24, HR34, HR44*, H21, H23, H24, H25, C31, C41, C41W, C61K, THR22 (TiVo)
  • Dish Network – Hopper Models (Hopper/ Hopper 3/ Hopper with Sling/Joey), VIP Models, 612, 322, 211 (k or z), 381
  • Some TiVo boxes may require this change as well.

While the actual configuration steps necessary to activate IR control can vary from device to device, it would be a good idea to search the  box’s Settings menu to see if there are remote settings. From here, you would want to see if there is an option to enable IR control, and activate it.

If you are unable to come to a resolution, it may be necessary to reach out to the cable provider and ask about enabling IR control of the cable box in question.
